Shriek like a Lady

I don't know about you, but I HATE modern horror movies. Too much blood and gore for me. But, I love a good classy thrill! Here are my top picks for achieving a lady-like scare this Halloween season.

Arsenic and Old Lace
Ok, so this one isn't really that scary. But it keeps the spirit of Halloween alive, and as an added bonus, the DVD includes an amazing vintage Donald Duck Halloween cartoon!

Carnival of Souls
This is a beautifully haunting movie. I made the mistake of watching it alone in my apartment after dark. The phone rang and scared me senseless...

Avant Garde: Experimental Cinema of the 1920s and 1930s
This is a fabulous three volume set of bizarre short silent films. They are truly the most peculiar, but also the most artistic, pieces of film I have ever seen.

Sorry, Wrong Number
This is a classic film noir starring Barbara Stanwyck...a great suspense! Also not a good one to watch home alone...

Alice
This one isn't scary so much as just creepy... Jan Svankmajer is such a bizarre, amazing director! This version of Alice in Wonderland certainly captures the spirit of a dream world....not in the pretty, cute way that Walt Disney did, but in an odd, uncomfortable way that leaves you thinking of Alice in an entirely new manner.

Anchors Away

Yesterday was a perfect fall day! I grabbed the golden opportunity to wear boots and leggings...and lots of leather of course(: The romper is totally versatile: I found this adorable anchor fabric and realized it was actually swimsuit material, which is super comfy and stretchy!

A Farewell to Bare Arms

I adore fall, and I love my fall rituals, such as re-arranging my closet so that all of my sweaters, wool skirts, and coats emerge from hibernation and become the front-runners for my wardrobe choices. However, now that my light, airy summer dresses are taking their turn in the dark corners of my closet, I miss them! Here is my final farewell to them, until next spring.

These are some of my favorite dresses that I made from vintage pattern reprints. Which one is your favorite?

Belts: thrifted or made by me

Red Delicious

Fall is my favorite season! My husband and I have a tradition of going apple picking every fall...and then I bake a homemade apple pie(:

Birch Bangs

I love Diane Birch's debut album Bible Belt!
Not only is the music fabulous, but the cover photos as well!
I just had to try her look out for myself:
